Many parts of Cochin has turned yellow since January. The Copper Pods bloomed profusely in the month of January, the canopies peeped out from a line of trees on any road. Against the clear blue sunny sky they looked absolutely gorgeous.
The Amaltas has joined the yellow pods since February, making the highway, main avenues, and streets yellow-er. Every road corner has a konna (the tree as it is called in Malayalam) yellower, brighter, making the pre-summer Cochin calmer to look at in ghe rising heat. If Rip Wan Winkle were a Malayalee and woke up this month, he'd think Vishu, the festival in April, is already in. For Malayalees associate the Konnapoo with Vishu, but in the last decade its plastic replica is being used as all the konna bloomed, dried and went back being just green leaves with long dry pods for dispersal by April.

There are other yellow flowers & ripe fruits adding to the yellow-ness of Cochin. Like this vine of yellow flowers. The owners of this house grew this as a cover for their verandah, the green of the leaves & the yellow of the flowers against their wooden frames makes a pretty picture.

The bitter gourd however bitter, grows out of tiny yellow flowers, there is a vine growing on the common fence on my neighbour side.

The jackfruit season has started, the ripe fruits are a yummy yellow. The guava leaves falling on corners of the wall are turning yellow with age, or may be I'm wearing yellow tinted glasses 🤗 oh my goodness, even the emojis are yellow🙃
